The episode is about +-80 doctors who completed their studies last year at different universities. They claim the internship placement system by the national Department of Health has failed them. Some say when they get to the accredited hospitals, they are told that the posts are frozen. This happens despite the serious shortage of doctors in public hospitals. The National Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi disputes the doctors’ claim. He says they refuse placements because of various reasons including legal, marital and so on. He says if they refuse to be placed, there is nothing that the department can do.
